Day 19, Stage 17. Embrun to Chorges 32 km time trial. 2 climbs, both cat 2.

Today was the mountain time trial which involved a transfer to a car park in Embrun and a transfer back to Gap from another car park in Chorges where the route finished. The scenery, and views were breathtaking (again) and the weather was kind. This stage (18) will make a great spectacle for those who view it on TV next Wednesday. The two climbs are not too demanding unless you are racing and the descents are similarly enjoyable but they could become treacherous in bad weather.

Still Nick and Matt were not racing today, they were taking it easy to keep some energy in reserve for the final four stages which will be absolutely explosive. It is unlikely that the blog will be updated for a few days as there will be not be any time and the next three days are now all that remains between the riders and their trip from Versailles to the Champs Eysees on Bastille day!
Because today was a short route there was some time for the usual essentials. More new riders will join the Tour de Force today to ride all the way to Paris.
